Today, Netflix revealed a first look at an upcoming romance series, One Day.
The story follows Emma and Dexter, who speak for the very first time on the night of their graduation in 1988. The next morning, they go their separate ways. Each episode of One Day revisits Dex and Em exactly a year later on the same date. The result is a decades-spanning love story, about people moving together and apart, experiencing joy and heartbreak.
Check out the trailer below for your first look at One Day.
The series stars Ambika Mod as Emma and Leo Woodall as Dexter. The extended cast also includes Essie Davis, Tim McInnerny, Amber Grappy, Jonny Weldon, Eleanor Tomlinson, Joely Richardson, and Toby Stephens.
Series writers include Nicole Taylor (lead), Anna Jordan, Vinay Patel, and Bijan Sheibani. Directors include Molly Manners, Kate Hewitt, John Hardwick, and Luke Snellin.
One Day adapts the bestselling novel of the same name by David Nicholls. Nicholls’ novel also previously received a screen adaptation back in 2011; that time, it was turned into a film starring Anne Hathaway and Jim Sturgess. Nicholls also served as an executive producer on the series, along with Roanna Benn, Jude Liknaitzky, and Nicole Taylor.
