What is Robot Dreams, you might ask? Well, for starters: it’s a 2007 graphic novel/comic of the same name by Sara Varon. However, as you can tell by the title, this graphic novel/comic will be an animated film from Spanish director Pablo Berger (Torremolinos 73, Blancanieves, Abracadabra). Don’t believe me? Then why not check out the new trailer for this upcoming animated film below, and see the musical friendship blossom between anthropomorphic dog and robot for yourself?
Robot Dreams: Details
NEON (an American independent film production and distribution company) is proud to announce Robot Dreams via that official teaser trailer above on YouTube. Apparently, they have acquired the NA distribution rights for this film, and want to show it off to everyone. Said trailer shows a rather quirky film. In it, a rather human-like and very lonely dog one day decided to mail order a robot friend. How this robot exists in setting is not explained in that teaser.
Fortunately, NEON also has an official synopsis for Robot Dreams to help us out with an explanation. You can check it out below:
Dog lives in Manhattan and he’s tired of being alone. One day he decides to build himself a robot, a companion. Their friendship blossoms, until they become inseparable, to the rhythm of 80’s NYC. One summer night, DOG, with great sadness, is forced to abandon ROBOT at the beach.
Alas, what this teaser trailer doesn’t give us is a release date for Robot Dreams. There’s not even so much as a release window to look forward to. All we have is a “Coming Soon”, and that’s it. We’ll just have to wait for NEON to give us that info later. Tune back in to THS to find out more about Robot Dreams and when we’ll get to see it when we do.
