Terrifier 3 has some big shoes to fill. The second film, Terrifier 2, gave audiences and fans of the genre something to really sink their teeth into. Between media campaigns that promised audience members passing out from shock and more, the second film grossed a huge amount of money ($15 million) on a small budget ($250K).
The star of Terrifer 2, Lauren LaVera is now on board to reprise her role as Sienna. Also returning are Writer/Director Damien Leone and Art the Clown actor David Howard Thornton. Chris Jericho, Samantha Scaffidi, and Elliot Fullam also reprising their roles from last year’s Terrifier 2.
Deadline was the first to report this news and they had some quotes from Leone on the third film.
“We are in pre-production right now. We’re going to start shooting in two months, beginning of February. So, we’re in the thick of it. We’re assembling our crew, we’re still casting; we’re getting locations in order; special effects are being created; and we’re still working on drafts. It could always be better and tighter: I never stop doing that all the way through production. I’m finally getting to the stage where I’m very excited about it. We’re about to make a movie again, which is my childhood fantasy come true.
This one is going to pick up where part two left off, in the insane asylum, so, you’re going to see what transpires there, what mayhem unfolds, because seeing how Art and Victoria ended up, is so insane, and seeing how they get out of that situation and what happens next is going to be really wild. So, we have to get Chris [Jericho] back in there and see how he becomes a part of that situation.”
Details About Terrifier 3‘s Plot
As Leone said above, the third film picks up where the second left off. You can see the teaser that was in theaters for the re-release of Terrifier 2 above. The thrid film is a Christmas/Holiday themed movie but weirdly releases in October of 2024. We’ll have to see how that works with the box office and audiences.
Here’s what Leone had to say about Lauren LaVera returning for the third film.
“Lauren was the heart and soul of Terrifier 2, and the next installment couldn’t be done without her character,” said Leone. “Lauren brings an unparalleled essence to the film, and her return is integral to the continuation of the chilling narrative we’ve crafted. Her character will be more developed as she is dealing with intense trauma stemming from the events of the previous film, and eventually, she must conquer these challenges to confront Art. Her continued metamorphosis into Art’s formidable foe is one of the most intriguing and exciting aspects of this franchise for me.”
Terrifier 3 releases in theaters on October 25th, 2024.
