As it turns out, the recent Adventure Time sequel/spinoff series on HBO Max starring Fionna and Cake is a hit. A huge one, really. All you need to do is look at the animated series’ page on Rotten Tomatoes to confirm that. Critics over 10 reviews (an oddly low number, to be sure) gave this series 100%, while audiences over a more numerous 250+ reviews still gave it 98%. When you also take into account the very strong LGBTQ+ representation in this series, it sounds like a recipe for success. Alas, due to that same LGBTQ+ representation, it also sounds exactly like the kind of show Warner Bros. Discovery would cancel after only a single season. Fortunately though, as you can tell by the title, this is most definitely not the case.
Adventure Time: Fionna and Cake Season 2 ~ Details
Warner Bros. Discovery and their streaming service HBO Max are proud to announce that Adventure Time: Fionna and Cake will get a second season. It seems that they have decided that this series deserved a season 2, and have renewed it for such. Alas, that’s all Warner Bros. Discovery has on this announcement. We’re fairly certain that Adam Muto (Adventure Time) will continue to be the showrunner, but that’s it. They don’t even have so much as a release window in this announcement. The only other thing they have for us today is the logline for season 1, which you can read below:
When Fionna and her sidekick Cake find themselves in the crosshairs of a powerful new foe, they have no choice but to seek the help of former Ice King Simon Petrikov. With appearances from Marshall Lee, Marceline the Vampire Queen, Princess Bubblegum, and Finn the Human, “Adventure Time: Fionna & Cake” transports fans of the classic series to worlds both familiar and alien.
Tune back in to THS to find out more about this upcoming Adventure Time: Fionna and Cake season 2 when we do.
