Get ready for Hazbin Hotel, a new animated musical comedy series about a hotel that rehabilitates demons. (Yup, you read that right.) The upcoming series from Prime Video revealed new details today, including the show’s official premiere date and guest cast members.
Hazbin Hotel follows Charlie, the princess of Hell, as she pursues her seemingly impossible goal of rehabilitating demons to peacefully reduce overpopulation in her kingdom. After a yearly extermination imposed by angels, she opens a hotel hoping that patrons will be “checking out” into Heaven. While most of Hell mocks her goal, her devoted partner Vaggie, and their first test subject, adult-film star Angel Dust, stick by her side. When a powerful entity, the “Radio Demon,” reaches out to assist Charlie’s endeavors, her crazy dream might become a reality.
The show’s primary voice cast includes Erika Henningsen, Stephanie Beatriz, Alex Brightman, Keith David, Kimiko Glenn, Blake Roman, Amir Talai, Christian Borle, and Joel Perez. Today, Prime Video also revealed several guest stars lending their voices to Hazbin Hotel. These guest stars include Broadway veterans Darren Criss (Saint Peter), Jeremy Jordan (Lucifer Morningstar), Daphne Rubin-Vega (Carmilla Carmine), Patina Miller (Sera), and Jessica Vosk (Lute).
Hazbin Hotel comes from creator Vivienne Medrano. The series is based on Medrano’s popular animated pilot, released on YouTube in 2019. Since then, the episode has brought in over 92 million views. Medrano executive produced the new Prime Video series, and also directed each episode. A24 and Fox’s Bento Box Entertainment produce the series.
Season 1 of Hazbin Hotel will stream exclusively on Prime Video beginning January 19, 2024.
Meanwhile, fans can visit HazbinHotel.com to pre-order special merch packages, watch a virtual Q&A with Medrano, and even get early access to the first two episodes.
