It’s been a while since the last 4 burning questions piece, what better way to return than to do one for this year’s Crown jewel that WWE is holding live today at 10am PST time. Here’s the graphic for the match card for the event from Riyadh
On paper, this should be one of the best cards of the year with plenty of fresh matchups and another big scenario for the WWE Undisputed Universal Championship. Let’s dive right into the 4 burning questions for this event.
Does Logan Paul capture his first WWE singles’ championship?
Rey Mysterio will go down in history as the most influential luchador of all time, this is the consensus among many fans and wrestlers alike. Which is the polar opposite of what some if not most say in regard to Logan Paul. For all the not so glowing opinions on Paul, you cannot deny the athleticism he has shown in his matches for the company. Remember prior to Sami Zayn and Cody Rhodes, Paul did have one of the better matches with Roman Reigns during his historic title run. As much as some will not want to hear it, the best option, is for Rey to give the rub to Paul and for him to be given a lengthy title run with the US championship which has fallen by the wayside as of late. Who better than one of the most polarizing figures in the company to elevate the championship back to relevance while also giving us a glimpse of what a championship could look like on Paul.
When is Rhea Ripley losing and to who?
Rhea Ripley is the current Women’s World Champion, and from the looks of the current landscape of the women’s division on RAW, there are not many challengers for the champion. Today, she is in a matchup which on paper is an uphill battle as she defends against 4 other competitors in Raquel, Shayna, Zoey and Nia. The matchup is a fantastic match as all involved have history with one another in some form. However as viewing any of the challengers as a legtimate threat to her reign is not really warranted. Rhea is so above the division some have dream matched her against some of the males in the RAW brand. In what will surely be an entertaining match, the winner is a given as realistically the company will have Rhea hold the title until at least Elimination Chamber in Perth so they can bill the event as a homecoming for her and what better way to do that than have her walk in as the top women’s champion in the company. As for the who will dethrone her? Let’s get to WrestleMania 40 and have her defend against Becky Lynch who could be out for the top prize in the women’s divison along with some revenge for Rhea’s possible involvement in costing Seth his championship.
Does Seth walk out champion?
Speaking of Seth, time is against his side as the longer his reign continues the shorter it does seem. How many of us thought with his last match against Finn Balor that he was going to lose the title? I was in the party of him losing to Finn, it did not happen so my next thought was Damian Priest cashing in that same night to avenge his Judgement Day brother, which has not happened yet either. Fast forward to Crown Jewel, now his is going against Drew McIntyre who is looking to capture the top prize on Monday nights. Again, I find myself betting against Seth as who is a better option for him to drop the title than to Drew? Well other than him the next option which is seeing more and more like the correct answer is Damian Priest. This event will have at least one big debate once the show closes, it will be up to WWE as to which debate, they will want fans to have at the end of the show, will it be Seth’s championship run ending with Drew or with a cash in from Priest so that the Judgement Day finally have all the top championships on Monday nights.
Does WWE finally pull the trigger on ending Roman’s reign?
Remember when I mentioned WWE will have at least one debate among fans once the show closes, well this is definitely going to be one if not the main one once the show ends. Does anyone else want Roman Reigns championship run to end? Yes, but as his run continues, we have had plenty of options to create a new star while ending the longest run in the modern era. Logan Paul, Seth Rollins, Drew McIntyre, Sami Zayn, John Cena, Cody Rhodes are just some of the stars that have failed to end the reign, where these stars have failed, we have one megastar who looks to end the historic reign. LA Knight is set to challenge the tribal chief of Friday night’s today at Crown Jewel, is this the star that stops the greatest reign in modern history? LA Knight is the total package for any wrestling promotion to strap a rocket aka championship to and shoot into the sky. He has the look, phenomenal on the mic and a solid move set. From the slow start he had, to where he is on the card this will be his first main event and in the spotlight against what many will say is the greatest big time match wrestler in WWE. Will we see some run ins from Solo Sikoa and Jimmy Uso as we have become accustomed to. Can Roman stop another star albeit a megastar from ending his reign? Will WWE drop the whole finish the story with Cody not capturing the title? This match is a tossup however, I do think Reigns will retain the biggest question will be how he does and how does the company not dim the light on LA Knight. In an outlandish take, I do hope we get a swerve in which Cody Rhodes is the one to cost LA Knight the match and to keep his story alive against Roman and him wanting to be the one to end the reign.
