E.T. the Extra-Terrestrial (or E.T. as most people call it) is one of the most famous films in history, let alone within the sci-fi genre. At its heart, it’s about friendship between two very different beings in the face of adversity. Even when the adversity ranges from language barriers and long distance to gun-toting (or walkie-talkie-toting, depending on the version) federal agents. It was this heart that led critics and audiences alike to give it universal acclaim. Thus, you can understand why Fanhome would want this build-up model of the titular little guy. Just in time for New York Comic Con 2023 to boot.

E.T. want plastic clone.

Fanhome is proud to announce that at NYCC 2023, they will show off their officially licensed E.T. the Extra-Terrestrial build-up model at Booth #4108. This is a 25 inches tall replica of the titular alien made of “meticulously detailed metal and ABS plastic parts”, and designed with the guidance of the family of Carlo Rambaldi. Rambaldi was the special effects artist who originally designed the little guy for the film. Alas, Rambaldi passed away in August 2012. Thus, you can understand why his family was involved in this replica’s design.

The best news here though? This E.T. the Extra-Terrestrial build-up model is something you can eventually purchase and assemble yourself like a model kit. When complete, this model features “articulated arms and an extendable head”, “LED capabilities” that includes “a light-up index finger and ‘heart light'”, and “moveable eyes and facial expressions”. This model even has “audio features” that allow it to quote iconic lines from the film. All activated by either touchless sensors embedded in the model, or with a simple remote control. It’s your choice here.

Preorders for this E.T. the Extra-Terrestrial build-up model are open now at Fanhome. Theoretically. As of this writing, the link to the preorder appears to be broken. We’ll just have to wait for Fanhome to make it available for preorder at a later date. The models will begin shipping sometime later in 2023, but Fanhome doesn’t mention how much later. Tune back in to THS to find that and other NYCC 2023 news out when we do.
