PASSION PROJECT FOR COSTNER
Horizon has been a multi-decade passion project for the acclaimed actor. Costner first commissioned the film back in 1988. In addition to the years spent, Costner has also invested at least $20 million dollars of his own money into the project. A fact that was revealed during the actor’s recent divorce proceedings. Horizon was originally envisioned as a four-part series by Costner. It is unclear at this time if that is still the plan or if Chapter 1 and Chapter 2 will complete the saga. Horizon is the fourth film directed by the actor, who has previously helmed Dances With Wolves, Open Range, and The Postman.
ABOUT HORIZON
In the great tradition of Warner Bros. Pictures’ iconic Westerns, “Horizon: An American Saga” explores the lure of the Old West and how it was won—and lost—through the blood, sweat and tears of many. Spanning the four years of the Civil War, from 1861 to 1865, Costner’s ambitious cinematic adventure will take audiences on an emotional journey across a country at war with itself, experienced through the lens of families, friends and foes all attempting to discover what it truly means to be the United States of America.
