There are movie trailers that give away too much of the film. There are movie trailers that give us too little to look at. And then there are movie trailers like The Beekeeper. The new film from David Ayer and written by Kurt Wimmer, stars Jason Statham as a Beekeeper.

Yes, you read that right, someone sat down, wrote an entire movie about a vengeful beekeeper taking down corruption and evil. Of course, it’s not that simple, but it boils down to Jason Statham kicks ass for about an hour and forty-five minutes. Which we can all get behind.

Here’s the official synopsis from MGM:

In The Beekeeper, one man’s brutal campaign for vengeance takes on national stakes after he is revealed to be a former operative of a powerful and clandestine organization known as “Beekeepers.”

It also stars Emmy Raver-Lampman, Josh Hutcherson, Bobby Naderi, Minnie Driver, with Phylicia Rashad and Jeremy Irons. If you told me that we’d get a movie where Jason Statham has to hunt down and systematically take out Jeremy Irons’ goons the entire time, I would have been sold. I’m even more sold after watching the trailer.

In this age, where Fast and Furious and other franchises wane, we need a return to the mid-budget asskicking romp. The Beekeeper looks like exactly what the doctor ordered.

So, what do you think of The Beekeeper?
