This weekend belonged to the dogs. Despite four new movies at the box office this weekend, PAW Patrol: The Mighty Movie still managed to out-gross them all.

PAW Patrol: The Mighty Movie And Saw X Win At The Box Office This Weekend

PAw Patrol: The Mighty Movie
Callum Shoniker as “Rocky”, Christian Corrao as “Marshall”, Christian Convery as “Chase”, McKenna Grace as “Skye”, Luxton Handspiker as “Rubble”, Nylan Parthipan as “Zuma”, and Marsai Martin as “Liberty” in Paw Patrol: The Mighty Movie from Spin Master Entertainment, Nickelodeon Movies, and Paramount Pictures.

As per Box Office Mojo, PAW Patrol: The Mighty Movie was the number one movie this weekend. The Canadian CGI movie brought in $23 Million domestically and $24.4 Million internationally. Which on a $30 million budget means the children’s superhero movie has already earned back its budget and then some. With the movie earning upwards of 70% more than its predecessor, it’s clear that families and children helped dominate theatres this weekend. Paramount has already announced that a third movie is headed for a 2026 release.

Saw X may have had high hopes of beating the Paw Patrol this weekend. With generally favorable reviews these might have been warranted. Still, even with it placing second this weekend, the movie still has made back its $13 Million budget with an $18 Million opening. This is higher than Spiral and its $8.7 million opening, or Jigsaw‘s $16.6 million opening.

The Creator And Dumb Money Missed The Mark

In third place was Disney’s new sci-fi film, The Creator. The movie made a disappointing debut with only $14 million on an $80 Million budget. The movie did perform better in international markets making $32.3 Million but it’s still hard to tell if the movie will be able to recoup its costs as it’ll depend on its drop off in its second week.

Craig Gillespie’s Dumb Money was expanded to other markets this week, most notably New York, which saw major weather issues. This hampered the success of the movie significantly as the studio was hoping for a large response in New York. It placed 7th with $3.5 million. Although Sony is committed to expanding its markets it could find more success next week.

Rounding out the Top 5 were The Nun II which made $4.7 Million. The Blind, the religious movie based on Duck Dynasty star Phil Robertson debuted in 5th with $4.1M.

Will The Exorcist: Believer Make Us Believers?

The Exorcist: Believer

The major release this week is The Exorcist: Believer; which Universal believes will take in $30 Million or more this coming Columbus Day weekend. This is what the Studio expects, but that does seem to be optimistic. David Gordon Green’s Halloween movies all had dwindling returns, and relatively better success on Peacock. So it’s likely that The Exorcist: Believer will follow this trend, but it will depend on the IP.

Be sure to check in next week and see!
