Bartender is a rather oddball seinen manga by Araki Joh (Sommelier). It’s basically a slice-of-life drama story where the main character cooks up dishes to solve his customer’s woes through the power of delicious cooking. Only, instead of cooking, it’s delicious bartending that would impress even James Bond. You might think this is too niche of a manga to get an anime adaptation. However, this manga not only got an anime adaptation from Palm Studio (Genshiken) in October 2006, but also a live-action TV drama in February 2011. The original manga also has no less than three separate spin-off manga series to boot. With that in mind, it’s no wonder why the anime is getting a modernized 2023 reboot titled Bartender: Glass of God. Don’t believe me? Then why not check out the reboot anime’s new trailer below, and enjoy the classy bartending for yourself?
Bartender: Glass of God ~ Details
Toho Animation Channel has just posted this new trailer for Bartender: Glass of God on YouTube. As you might expect from an anime explicitly about bartending, this trailer shows off the delicious drinks the main character, Ryo Sasakura (voiced by Takuma Terashima) serves up to his customers. As well as his fancy mixing, of course. A good part of bartending is the performance, and our bartender shows that he has the style down.
So when can we watch this classy animated bartending at work? Well, the very end of that trailer reveals that Bartender: Glass of God will premiere sometime in April 2024. Presumably, it will premiere on Crunchyroll, but we don’t know for certain yet. In the meantime though, you can check out the 2006 anime adaptation also on Crunchyroll.
