Prime Video and Blumhouse are back at it again with another ’80s-set horror flick. First, it was My Best Friend’s Exorcism, and now we’re getting Totally Killer on October 6th. The two partners in filmmaking are bringing us a time travel slasher flick starring Kiernan Shipka, Julie Bowen, Olivia Holt, Randall Park, Lochlyn Munro, Charlie Gillespie, and Liana Liberato. It’s directed by Nahnatchka Khan and features a screenplay from David Matalon, Sasha Perl-Raver, and Jen D’Angelo. It’s based on a story by David Matalon and Sasha Perl-Raver.
Here’s the official synopsis from Blumhouse and Prime Video:
Thirty-five years after the shocking murder of three teens, the infamous “Sweet Sixteen Killer“ returns on Halloween night to claim a fourth victim. Seventeen-year-old Jamie (Shipka) ignores her overprotective mom’s (Bowen) warning and comes face-to-face with the masked maniac and, on the run for her life, accidentally time-travels to 1987, the year of the original killings. Forced to navigate the unfamiliar and outrageous culture of the 1980s, Jamie teams up with her teen mom (Holt) to take down the killer once and for all, before she’s stuck in the past forever.
Overall, this looks like a fun time-travel slasher in a similar vein to Freaky or The Final Girls. We’ll have to see how it turns out when it releases on Prime Video on October 6th!
