The upcoming Prime Video film Sitting in Bars with Cake follows best friends Jane (Yara Shahidi) and Corinne (Odessa A’zion). Corinne is the outgoing bestie who is always pushing you to make your dreams come true. Jane is a shy baker who is convinced by Corinne to take cakes to bars for a year to meet people and build her confidence.

However, this isn’t a rom-com it’s a story of friendship. Corrinne receives a life-altering diagnosis and the pair’s friendship is tested and they are brought together like never before.

Inspired by true events, Sitting in Bars with Cake follows best friends Jane (Yara Shahidi) and Corinne (Odessa A’zion) navigating life in Los Angeles in their twenties. OFFICIAL SYNOPSIS

Directing the film is Trish Sie (Pitch Perfect 3). The story is inspired by real-life events, as well as the book of the same name by Audrey Shulman. Shulman also wrote the screenplay. Shahidi is also an executive producer on the film, which marks her first project as an executive producer.

Starring alongside Yara Shahidi and Odessa A’zion are Martha Kelly, Ron Livingston, and the icon, Bette Midler!

Sitting in Bars with Cake will premiere exclusively on Prime Video globally on September 8
