Scream VII is hotly anticipated. After the massive box office success of Scream (2022) and Scream VI, one could expect the studio to greenlight a movie immediately. Well, it appeared there were some complications to that. Our friends at One Take News have the details. The directing team of Radio Silence will not be directing the film. After they put off their upcoming Universal monster movie Dracula’s Daughter for Scream VI, they didn’t want to push it back again.
Through their independent sources, they can confirm that Christopher Landon (Happy Death Day, Freaky) signed on to direct Scream VII before the WGA and SAG-AFTRA strikes. It’s unclear who from the past two movies or beyond would return for the sequel. Anything like that is up in the air due to the strikes.
Scream (2022) and Scream VI gave new energy to the franchise after it was dormant following Scream 4. The Radio Silence team crafted two movies that were excellent entries into the series, especially Scream (2022).
We’ll have to see how it all turns out and when Paramount fully confirms all of this.
