The upcoming Paramount+ film, Love in Taipei is based on the New York Times’ Best-Selling Novel Loveboat, Taipei by Abigail Hing Wen. In the novel, a young American woman is sent by her parents to a cultural immersion program in Taipei. There she begins a new journey of self-discovery and romance.
The film stars Ashley Liao (Physical, The Hunger Games: The Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes) as Ever Wong. Ever’s summer takes an unexpected turn when her parents send her to Taipei for a cultural immersion program. However, this program isn’t what she expected. There’s zero homework or history lessons. Instead, she’s on a summer-long journey with the locals, as well as other students called “Loveboat.” It doesn’t take too long for things to get exciting. Ever finds herself trying not to fall for one, but two handsome men fighting for her attention. At the same time, she hopes to find the courage to defy her parents and pursue her dream of dance.
