While Comic-Con is a great time to meet other fans and collect awesome merch, it’s also the perfect time to dive deeper into the current entertainment landscape. One of the biggest topics in the industry today is Artificial Intelligence (AI).
AI has recently gained attention as one of the factors contributing to the WGA and SAG-AFTRA strikes. But voice actors have also been uniquely affected by the emergence of AI. To dive into this hot button topic, the National Association of Voice Actors (NAVA) will host a panel at SDCC.
The panel, titled AI in Entertainment: The Performer’s Perspective, will take place Saturday, July 22 at 10:30am. Panelists include Ashly Burch (Mythic Quest, Horizon Zero Dawn), Cissy Jones (The Owl House, Transformers Earthrise), Zeke Alton (The Calisto Protocol, NAVA board member), and Tim Friedlander (Record of Ragnarok, president/founder of NAVA). Linsay Rousseau (Transformers: War for Cybertron, God of War Ragnarok, NAVA & SAG/AFTRA board member) will moderate the panel.
As technology continues to push new boundaries, the entertainment industry and performers will have to adapt. The panel will discuss how existing legal structures can be used in some areas, and how new standards need to be built for performers and producers to collaborate on great products while still protecting individual rights to performance and publicity.
San Diego Comic-Con runs from July 19 – 23. For more updates on panels, activations, merch, and more, check back to THS.
