Spy x Family Ch. 84 continues the spy vs. spy battle of WISE and SSS. Unfortunately, it seems like the SSS are gaining the upper hand all thanks to “Wheeler”. As it turns out, Loid/Twilight and Fiona/Nightfall find out that “Wheeler” is no average spy. The hard way, unfortunately.

Spy x Family Ch. 84: Plot Summary
Spy x Family Ch. 84 picks up directly where we last off in the previous chapter. “Wheeler” has now been cornered by Fiona Frost/Nightfall and another WISE agent, with more on the way. Fiona has a brief banter with “Wheeler” about his poor humor (indirectly revealing that she knows what humor is in passing), before she gets her fellow WISE agent to search “Wheeler” for the intel papers. They find and confiscate those papers, but “Wheeler” turns out to be an insanely slippery customer. He grabs the WISE agent in a backwards grip, leaps up and tucks his legs in to move his bound hands under them, all while still holding the WISE agent in order to throw him in front of him. This results in “Wheeler” having a death grip around the WISE agent’s neck and threatening to snap it.
Fiona is unfazed though, and basically dares him to do it. This buys enough time for reinforcements to arrive, but “Wheeler” reacts by throwing his hostage at Fiona, and leaping over a fence even as Fiona is firing at him with her pistol. She tries to fire down at him, but “Wheeler” somehow throws a knife right into her pistol’s barrel before escaping into the sewers. Impressed despite herself, Fiona leaves the WISE agent “Wheeler” took hostage to the other WISE agent for medical assistance before dashing to the sewers herself in hot pursuit even as she’s going through some internal Twilight-related conflict. Guess who else just happens to be in the sewers though?
Loid Vs. Wheeler: Fight!
Loid runs right into “Wheeler” as he’s trying to make it out of the sewers himself. He pretends to be Yuri Briar to fool “Wheeler” into lowering his guard, but he sees right through Loid’s disguise purely from the sounds of his footsteps earlier. This results in an epic fight between Loid and “Wheeler”. Alas, it happens offscreen, and we only see the results.
Fiona stumbles upon the results: Loid lying out cold at the feet of “Wheeler”. “Wheeler” is far from unscathed, but it’s clear that he’s the victor. In fact, “Wheeler” is about yank off Loid’s Yuri disguise in front of a horrified Fiona trying to convince herself that this is Yuri on the concrete floor and not Loid. The moment “Wheeler” tries to do so though, Fiona stomps on the ground and a terrifying expression emerges on her face. Terrifying enough that the rats flee before they get caught up in it. What’s “it”, you might ask? Well, that’s what we’ll find out in the next chapter of Spy x Family.
Spy x Family Ch. 84: The Good
I got to admit: Tatsuya Endo really blindsided me with Spy x Family Ch. 84. In hindsight, it’s not that surprising that Loid lost. He did just fight a major battle with Yuri in which he got knocked around hard. It’s really amazing that he did so much damage to “Wheeler” before going down, given how good “Wheeler” is. Now all that’s left is to see how Fiona exacts her revenge on “Wheeler”. Or maybe she won’t. It’s really hard to tell what’s going to happen at this point. It’s only making me more excited for the next chapter.
Spy x Family Ch. 84: The Bad
My one and only complaint about Spy x Family Ch. 84 is the cliffhanger Tatsuya Endo left us off on. Seriously, with Fiona/Nightfall about to go ham on “Wheeler”? With the result firmly in doubt? That’s a major cliffhanger right there. Unfortunately, due to Endo’s writing schedule, we’ll have to wait 2 weeks to find out. Better grab some popcorn. It’s going to feel like a long wait.
