After a long search, Hulu has found a new actor for Korvo to replace Justin Roiland in their series Solar Opposites. Dan Stevens (Downton Abbey, Legion, Gaslit, Eurovision) has been chosen to take over the lead role in the animated series created by Mike McMahan and Roiland. Justin Roiland was ousted from the role and most of his other engagements after he was charged with Domestic Violence.
Solar Opposites follows Korvo, a grouchy alien who always wears ceremonial robes and professes to hate Earth. He desperately wants to fix their spaceship so he can escape to a new planet. Here’s a clip from Hulu showing off Stevens’ voice role.
Stevens has plenty of voice-over work in his catalog, lending his voice to The Prince, Kipo and the Age of Wonderbeasts, and Central Park.
All 11 episodes of the fourth season of Solar Opposites release August 14th on Hulu. There’s also a Valentine’s Day special set for next year. They scored a season five renewal in October 2022.
You can read more about Justin Roiland and the charges against him here. He had allegations of Domestic Violence and other troubling behavior against him. An Orange County District Attorney dismissed the charges, citing insufficient evidence. Hulu hasn’t made a decision on the shows Rick and Morty or Koala Man, both of which, Roiland was involved with. They’re still casting for the voices of both Rick and Morty right now.
