Sophie Thatcher has found her next project. The Yellowjackets actress will play the title role in the new sci-fi thriller Companion. Zach Cregger, the filmmaker behind Barbarian, will produce. Companion is one of many projects that Cregger is attached to. The list includes a producing role on Occupant and Weapons, which he will write and direct in his follow-up to Barbarian.
What is Companion?
Not much is known about New Line’s upcoming feature. The film’s plot is being kept under wraps. According to the Hollywood Reporter, Thatcher’s character is reportedly “more than meets the eye”. Does this mean she’s playing a Transformer? Probably not.
Companion was written by Drew Hancock, who will also direct the film; this will be his directorial debut. The script and concept were auctioned off to various studios before New Line snatched it up. It immediately greenlit the film, and production began immediately.
Thatcher is not the only cast member confirmed for Companion. Jack Quaid, Lukas Gage, Megan Suri, and Harvey Guillén will all star. Their roles are also being tightly kept under wraps.
