Pixar’s Up introduced us to loveable grump Carl and enthusiastic talking dog Dug back in 2009. Now, the duo will return for a new Pixar short, Carl’s Date.

In Carl’s Date, Carl reluctantly agrees to go on a date with a lady friend. But he doesn’t know how dating works these days. Ever the helpful friend, Dug steps in to calm Carl’s pre-date jitters and offer some tried-and-true tips for making friends…if you’re a dog.

Take a peek at the short in the trailer below.

Carl Fredricksen and Bob Peterson reprise their voice roles as Carl and Dug respectively. Peterson also wrote and directed the short.

Carl’s Date will air before Pixar’s next theatrical release, Elemental. The original animated feature introduces Element City, where fire-, water-, land- and air-residents live together. The story follows Ember, a tough, quick-witted and fiery young woman, whose friendship with a fun, sappy, go-with-the-flow guy named Wade challenges her beliefs about the world they live in.

You can catch Carl’s Date and Elemental in theaters June 16.
