What Are The Expendables?

The first Expendables film was released in August of 2010 and was directed by Sylvester Stallone. It premiered at the top of the box office in the United States. This led to three more sequels, including the upcoming film. Although Stallone stepped away from Expendables 4 for a time due to creative differences, he ultimately returned to work on the film and seems to have brought many of his friends to join the cast as well.

One interesting aspect of the newest film is that it will return to the ‘R’ rating that both Expendables and Expendables 2 received. This allows the action and the language to be more brutal and over-the-top. The addition of the ‘R’ rating indicates that Stallone and his team won’t be holding back, promising a fun ride for theatergoers. The film’s press release promises that Expendables 4 will “give ‘new blood’ a whole new meaning”. It will be interesting to see if “new blood” is taken literally with the ‘R’ rating.

Expendables 4 releases in theaters on September 22.
