Raylan Givens is back. This time around though, the U.S. Marshal has traded in the hollers of Kentucky for the concrete of the Motor City. Ahead of its release, FX has dropped the official teaser trailer, giving fans their first look at Raylan as he adjusts to the city. The new series will take its inspiration from Elmore Leonard’s novel City Primeval: High Noon in Detroit.  The show is set to pick up several years after the conclusion of the original Justified series, with Raylan (Timothy Olyphant) still in Miami. But he won’t be there for long. As Justified: City Primeval will find Rylan heading to Detroit in pursuit of The Oklahoma Wildman, Clement Mansell (Boyd Holbrook). The series will premiere on July 18 on FX and Hulu.

JUSTIFIED: CITY PRIMEVAL TEASER TRAILER

ABOUT JUSTIFIED: CITY PRIMEVAL

Having left the hollers of Kentucky eight years ago, Raylan Givens now lives in Miami, a walking anachronism balancing his life as a U.S. Marshal and part-time father of a 14-year-old girl. His hair is grayer, his hat is dirtier, and the road in front of him is suddenly a lot shorter than the road behind.

A chance encounter on a desolate Florida highway sends him to Detroit. There he crosses paths with Clement Mansell, aka The Oklahoma Wildman, a violent, sociopathic desperado who’s already slipped through the fingers of Detroit’s finest once and aims to do so again. Mansell’s lawyer, formidable Motor City native Carolyn Wilder, has every intention of representing her client, even as she finds herself caught in between cop and criminal, with her own game afoot as well. These three characters set out on a collision course in classic Elmore Leonard fashion, to see who makes it out of the City Primeval alive.

Justified

In addition to Olyphant and Holbrook, the cast also includes Aunjanue EllisAdelaide ClemensVondie Curtis Hall, Marin Ireland, Norbert Leo Butz, Victor Williams, and Ravi Patel. Olyphant’s real-life daughter Vivian Olyphant will appear as Willa Givens, Raylan’s daughter.
