AppleTV+ drops its trailer for its new limited series, The Crowded Room. The series takes place in 1979 and stars an almost unrecognizable Tom Holland (Spiderman) as Danny Sullivan. Danny is arrested after his involvement in a shooting in New York City. The story is told through a series of interviews with interrogator Rya Goodwin (Amanda Seyfried). So, through her, we learn about Danny’s life and the mysterious parts that shaped him into the man he became.

While the series is not based on a true story, it does seem to be inspired by one: real-life convict Billy Milligan. Milligan was the subject of a highly publicized court case in Ohio in the late ’70s.

The Crowded Room is created by Academy Award Winner, Akiva Goldsman. Holland is not only staring in the film but also executive producing. The limited series features an ensemble cast consisting of Emmy Rossum (Angelyne), Sasha Lane (Conversations with Friends), Will Chase (Nashville), and Lior Raz along with guest stars Jason Isaacs (Spinning Gold), Christopher Abbott (Girls), Thomas Sadoski (The News Room), as well as Zachary Golinger.

This exciting limited series will consist of 10 episodes. The Crowded Room will make its global debut on Apple TV+ with the first three episodes on Friday, June 9, 2023, followed by one new episode weekly every Friday through July 28, 2023.

The Crowded Room is a co-production between Apple Studios and New Regency. Goldsman serves as executive producer through his Weed Road Productions banner. The series is also executive produced by Holland; Alexandra Milchan for EMJAG Productions; and New Regency’s Arnon Milchan, Yariv Milchan, as well as Michael Schaefer. Kornel Mundruczo directed several episodes, including the pilot, and executive produces.
