This Greek family is finally going back to their roots. The much-loved My Big Fat Greek Wedding saga continues with its third chapter this fall.
In My Big Fat Greek Wedding 3, the Portokalos family travels to a family reunion in Greece for a heartwarming and hilarious trip full of love, twists, and turns. Opa! Check out the official trailer for the movie below.
The trailer reveals that the Portokalos family reunion is actually spurred on by the loss of the family patriarch. After arriving in Greece, Toula (Nia Vardalos) makes it her mission to find some of her father’s old friends. As the family shenanigans continue, it looks like we can also expect a new romance in the younger generation as well.
The original My Big Fat Greek Wedding debuted back in 2002, chronicling the love story of a Greek woman, Toula, who falls in love with non-Greek Ian. When they decide to get married, Toula must get her very Greek family to accept him while she comes to terms with her own heritage and identity. Toula, Ian, and the whole Portokalos family later returned for My Big Fat Greek Wedding 2 in 2016. The enduring love people have for the original movie and the excitement for the sequel ultimately led to this third feature in the franchise.
Nia Vardalos and John Corbett reprise their roles as Toula and Ian. The film also stars Elena Kampouris, Gia Carides, Joey Fatone, Louis Mandylor, Lainie Kazan, and Andrea Martin. In addition to starring, Vardalos also wrote and directed the film.
My Big Fat Greek Wedding 3 will premiere in theaters September 8.
