Spy x Family Ch. 79 finally gives us the first Yor Forger-centric chapter we’ve had in a while. Not only that, but it features some of the most hilarious faces Yor has ever made to date. This is rather appropriate for this chapter of the manga, since Yor is going on a girls’ night out and getting drop-dead drunk with her coworkers. Her office coworkers, mind you. Not the one from her other job. The one she desperately doesn’t want anyone to find out about.

Spy x Family Ch. 79: Plot Summary
Spy x Family Ch. 79 starts us off with Yor’s coworkers at her office suddenly getting a deluge of work from the manager. A kind Yor offers to help her coworker out, partially out of empathy and partially to pay her back for teaching her how to cook…more or less. It’s while working that Yor’s coworkers have noticed that Yor is much more talkative towards them ever since she married Loid. Yor worries about blowing her cover, but it’s fine. In fact, it’s so fine that after her coworkers finish the overtime work that the manager foisted onto them, they invite her out to a girls’ night out to celebrate. Yor decides to go so as to appear more normal, and so she has her first-ever night out with her coworkers.
Once there, Yor and her coworkers start drinking, of course. If you’ve watched Yor drink before, then you realize that she and alcohol tend not to be a good combination. It gets even worse when Yor’s coworkers start talking about the various failings and annoyances of their respective spouses, and Yor feels like she has to join in to appear normal. She can’t think of anything substantial due to Loid being just a bit too perfect, so she starts making stuff up about Loid. Only, the stuff she makes up is so mild that no one believes her. Thus, Yor ends up believing that she has to seriously murder Loid to make her coworkers believe her.
Yor Vs. Her Own Overactive Imagination
It even results in Yor having an elaborate (and utterly ridiculous) imagination sequence featuring in an epic battle to the death against Loid…over making his omelets not sweet enough for Yor’s liking for Anya‘s sake. Drunkenness does weird things to Yor. Fortunately, all she does is stand at the restaurant entrance hold a dinner knife, with a poor waiter politely begging her not to leave the premises with the restaurant’s cutlery. Even more fortunately, Yor’s coworkers find her behavior utterly adorable. To the point where they even try to get Yor to get Loid to give her a welcome home kiss when she gets back.
Unfortunately, even the mere thought of asking Loid for a welcome home kiss makes Yor’s head explode. Loid catches her before she can collapse, but that just raises Yor’s embarrassment meter even more. Yor remembers the last time she got drunk and accidentally beat Loid up at that bar. So Yor avoids that outcome…by somehow suplexing herself into the floor. All while apologizing to Loid through the floor. Anya briefly awakens from her slumber to complain about how loud Loid and Yor are when they “kissy kiss”. Other than that, all is well. How will the Forgers repair that smashed floor? Will Yor ever work up the courage to actually kiss Loid? Well, maybe we’ll find that out in the next chapter of Spy x Family.
Spy x Family Ch. 79: The Good
I would say the best part of Spy x Family Ch. 79 is watching Yor’s relationship with her office coworkers. If you recall when we first saw Yor with her coworkers, they previously had a distant relationship with her. Yor politely kept her distance from them over fears of them finding out about her assassination job, and that prevented her from getting to know them. This latest chapter of the manga shows that is definitely no longer the case. Thanks to everything that has happened as a result of becoming a family with Loid, Anya, and Bond; Yor has a much more friendly and warm relationship with her coworkers. It’s arguably much healthier for Yor, and even helps maintain her cover more effectively to boot. All good things for her.
Of course, though, Spy x Family Ch. 79 isn’t complete without some utterly hilarious facial expressions. Fortunately, Yor provides them. This chapter features some of the best facial expressions she’s ever shown us in the entire manga. Especially when she self-destructs in embarrassment, This chapter clearly shows off Tatsuya Endo’s skill in the facial department. All we wish for is for him to keep at it.
Spy x Family Ch. 79: The Bad
Bad? What could possibly be bad about Spy x Family Ch. 79? If anything, after the mini-chapter we got last time because Tatsuya Endo needed a well-deserved break, this is like a manga version of that welcome home kiss Yor…wanted? All I can do right now is eagerly await the next chapter from Tatsuya Endo.
