It appears that Guerilla Games may have revealed that they’re already working on the sequel to Horizon Forbidden West. Just days after the release of the Burning Shores DLC, in fact. Whether it’s accidental or a teaser is a bit irrelevant in this case though. All we know is the following:

Horizon Forbidden West Sequel: On the Way?

'Horizon Forbidden West' PS store cover art.
I’m already imagining Aloy having new adventures in Quen lands across the sea.

Guerilla Games just released an official message from studio management on their company website. The message was basically a “Thank You” to the employees, with special mentions to specific members of the development team like Jan-Bart van Beek (who is one of the main artists behind Horizon Zero Dawn and Horizon Forbidden West) and Michiel van der Leeuw (who is one of the main programmers for the same). Nothing special there for us.

However, the real juicy bit comes in the final paragraphs. Here’s what Guerilla Games says in that paragraph:

We have full confidence in our new leadership as they steer Guerrilla towards a bright future, expanding the world of Horizon with Aloy’s next adventure and our exciting online project. Michiel van der Leeuw (Technical Director) will be focusing on the future technology and strategy for the Decima engine.

This paragraph, especially the “expanding the world of Horizon with Aloy‘s next adventure”, is the interesting bit. The implication here is that Guerilla Games is already working on the sequel to Horizon Forbidden West. Not only that, but they confirm that Aloy will still continue to be the main character in this sequel. Unfortunately, that’s all they’re revealing for now. The information here is so vague that it’s pretty clear that Guerilla Games are very early in the development of this sequel. We likely won’t see it for a very long while. Tune back into THS much later to find out more Horizon news when we get it.
