We’ve been known to say, “Well, we’ll get a new Blu-ray release of Trick Or Treat when pigs fly”. Get those pigs on a Southwest flight because Trick Or Treat from 1986 is getting a Blu-ray/4K release from Synapse Films. The announcement was made late last night. The upcoming release will be packed with exclusive bonus content from Red Shirt Pictures and it’ll feature a brand new 4K restoration.
The heavy metal horror movie was directed by Charles Martin Smith and stars Marc Price, Tony Fields, and Gene Simmons. It features a cameo appearance from Ozzy Osbourne. If you haven’t seen Trick Or Treat, here’s the synopsis.
A bullied teenage boy is devastated after the death of his heavy metal idol, Sammi Curr. But as Halloween night approaches, he discovers that he may be the only one who can stop Sammi from making a Satanic comeback from beyond the grave.
Synapse had this to say about the upcoming release.
This exciting re-release has been restored in 4K from the original camera negative that brings the horror and heavy metal mayhem to life like never before. In addition to the restored picture and sound, the package will also include exclusive bonus features such as behind-the-scenes content, interviews with cast and crew, and more!
There’s no official release date, but they hope to get it out this year.
Trick Or Treat also features one of the best soundtracks in horror from Fastway. Tony Fields captures exactly what it meant to be a glam heavy metal star in the 80s with his performance as Sammi Curr. Hopefully, they can get this one out soon, because Trick Or Treat is absolutely awesome. It deserves to be seen by every horror fan out there!
