The two biggest toy companies in the world, Mattel and Hasbro, and joining forces for a multi-year licensing agreement to create co-branded toys and games for their major theatrical releases this summer.
That means that Hasbro will make Barbie-themed Monopoly games for this Fall 2023. It also means that Mattel will make Transformers-branded UNO games later this year. For Hot Wheels fans, make sure you’re sitting down. Transformers-themed Hot Wheels are coming in early 2024.
The two major releases for Hasbro and Mattel in the theaters are Transformers: Rise of the Beasts and Barbie. Transformers arrives in theaters on June 9th, 2023 and Barbie comes to theaters on July 21st, 2023.
Nick Karamanos, Senior VP of Entertainment Partnerships At Mattel had this to say.

Barbie sees the big-screen debut of the most famous doll in the world and stars Margot Robbie in addition to an absolutely stacked cast. Transformers: Rise of the Beasts is taking on a fan-favorite series, the 90s Beast Wars cartoon. This time, instead of robots that turn into cars, there’ll be robots that turn into animals like cheetahs and gorillas.
Casey Collins, President of Global Licensed Consumer Products And Business Development had this to say.
With the major theatrical releases of the Transformers and Barbie movies in summer 2023, we’re excited to bring brand-new play experiences to fans, families, and movie and toy lovers all around the world.
These releases are certainly exciting and show that the two biggest toy companies aren’t above making deals with one another for their IP.
