Bruce Campbell is heading to Peacock.
The series Hysteria is adding Bruce Campbell to their cast, including Anna Camp, Emjay Anthony, Chiara Aurelia, Kezii Curtis, Nikki Hahn, and Julie Bowen. Deadline reports that Campbell is set to play Chief Dandridge in the series. Here’s the synopsis for the show.
When a beloved varsity quarterback disappears during the ‘Satanic Panic’ of the late 1980s, a struggling high school heavy metal band of outcasts realize they can capitalize on the town’s sudden interest in the occult by building a reputation as a Satanic metal band, until a bizarre series of murders, kidnappings, and reported ‘supernatural activity’ triggers a leather-studded witch hunt that leads directly back to them.
His character is described as “a small-town police chief whose understanding of his community is put to the test after a disturbing series of murders, disappearances, and unexplained phenomena.”
Matthew Scott Kane and David Goodman are writing the series and serving as executive producers. John Francis Daley, Jonathan Goldstein, Chris Bender, and Jake Weiner will also executive produce, with Bender and Weiner doing so via Good Fear Content. Scott Stoops will be supervising producer for Good Fear. Jordan Vogt-Roberts is set to direct, and executive produce the first episode.
Campbell is a horror legend that has starred in the Evil Dead series, Maniac Cop, Burn Notice, Bubba Ho-Tep, and the Ash Vs. Evil Dead series on Starz. Bruce Campbell also recently executive produced and was “very involved” with the release of Evil Dead Rise.
There is currently no release date for Hysteria.
As a fan of heavy metal and Bruce Campbell, this sounds absolutely smashing. There seems to be a bit of a renaissance in pop culture for heavy metal lately. Between the release of a new Metallica album and shows like Stranger Things giving Metal a bigger spotlight, we’re in for some fun with this series.
