MÖTLEY CRÜE are hitting the studio with longtime producer Bob Rock.
According to multiple posts from John 5 and Tommy Lee, the band are in the studio recording new music.
This all comes after bassist Nikki Sixx confirmed that the Crue was writing new music. Sixx Tweeted that he and John 5 had spent some time ‘writing random riffs”. He then posted an image of him, Tommy Lee, and John 5 playing and recording in the studio with the caption, “Another killer songwriting day with Tommy Lee and John 5.”
He went on to say this on Twitter:
“We are writing. The creative process of songwriting has always been the heartbeat of our band. We’re gonna go in the big studio next week and record a few off the floor and see where it goes. We don’t have a definitive plan at this point. Just letting the songs guide us.”
Mick Mars Kicked Out Of Motley Crue
John 5 joined the band as a touring replacement for Mick Mars, who could no longer play on tour with the band. It was assumed that Mars would still be part of Motley Crue if they ever recorded new music. That’s not the case, because Mick Mars was kicked out of Motley Crue and is now suing the band for lost profits.
Mars is also alleging that Nikki Sixx isn’t actually playing his bass while they’re on tour. Here’s what Vinnie Appice had to say about Mars and Sixx.
“Basically, everything was on tape; it was all planned out and ultimately a lot of crap. And Mick is a pretty good player, and so, to now let him loose and play the way he wants, that was never going to work for him,” Appice said. “The truth is that everything has been weird for a while with Motley Crue, and Mick didn’t like that everything was on tape. Mick told me that people that came to see it could tell that it was all pre-recorded and that everything was on tape.”
We’ll have to see how this turns out, if Motley Crue is actually recording a full length album or not.
So, what do you think of Motley Crue hitting the studio? Are you excited for new music from the band?
