The runaway star of X, Pearl, and Infinity Pool, Mia Goth, is taking her talents to the MCU.
Deadline reports that Goth is joining Mahershala Ali in the upcoming film, Blade. Yann Demange is directing a script from Michael Starrbury. Ali is starring as the titular character. Plot details for the film are light, and it’s unknown who or what Goth is playing in the film. Marvel revealed plans for Blade all the way back at San Diego Comic-Con in 2019, but the film has seen plenty of delays and dysfunction behind the scenes.
Blade was created by Marv Wolfman and Gene Colan for Tomb of Dracula No. 10 in 1973. He is a human-vampire hybrid whose mother was bitten and killed by a vampire during childbirth. The character rose to popularity in the 90s with Wesley Snipes‘ take in Blade, and its two sequels.
You can thank the first Blade for the entire MCU that we have to this day. It making as much money as it did at the box office stopped Marvel from having to sell off all of its assets to stay open.
Mia Goth is one of the most in-demand actresses in Hollywood these days due to her roles in X, Pearl, and Infinity Pool. She has the last film in the X trilogy filming right now with MaXXXine. She also has Guillermo Del Toro‘s Frankenstein coming up.
Blade underwent plenty of changes with different directors and writers coming in and out, but it’s supposed to film later this year for a 2024 release.
