John Wick: Chapter 4 is still taking the world by storm at the box office and in our hearts. However, that’s not stopping Peacock and Universal from getting us ready to go back to where it began, The Continental. The three-part event series will stream exclusively on Peacock in September 2023.
Here’s the synopsis for The Continental.
The three-part event will explore the origin behind the iconic hotel-for-assassins centerpiece of the John Wick universe through the eyes and actions of a young Winston Scott, as he’s dragged into the Hell-scape of 1970’s New York City to face a past he thought he’d left behind. Winston charts a deadly course through the hotel’s mysterious underworld in a harrowing attempt to seize the hotel where he will eventually take his future throne.
The series was written, developed, and executive produced by Greg Coolidge, Kirk Ward, and Shawn Simmons. Albert Hughes directed parts 1 and 3 and Charlotte Brandstrom directed part 2. The cast includes Mel Gibson, Colin Woodell, Mishel Prada, Ben Robson, Hubert Point-Du Jour, Nhung Kate, Jessica Allain, Ayomide Adegun, Jeremy Bobb, and Peter Greene.
More On The John Wick-The Continental Universe
John Wick also has the spinoff Ballerina coming in June 2024.
In Ballerina, Ana de Armas stars as an assassin who uses her skills to get revenge when her family is killed by hitmen. The film comes from director Len Wiseman and writer Shay Hatten.
Though we don’t know much about the specific plot of the film, it will most likely link up to John Wick: Chapter 3 – Parabellum. That movie introduced the Ruska Roma crime family’s approach to training female assassins as ballerinas.
The fourth installment in the John Wick universe starring Keanu Reeves recently premiered in theaters. It opened to a franchise high at the box office, bringing in over $138 million worldwide. The movie also gained overwhelming praise from both fans and critics alike. THS called John Wick 4 “an upper-tier action classic” and “one of the most fun times you can have at the theater.”
