The team behind Ready Or Not, Scream, and Scream VI, Radio SIlence, are making their way to Universal for an untitled monster movie. According to our friends at Geek Vibes Nation and confirmed by The Hollywood Reporter, Matt Bettinelli-Olpin, Tyler Gillett, and Chad Villella are directing and producing the film. In addition, William Sherak, Paul Neinstein, James Vanderbilt of Project X Entertainment, and Tripp Vinson are also producing the film.
Universal is keeping the details close to their cape, but THR is reporting that the feature was at one point titled Dracula’s Daughter. The story goes that it is centered on a group of kidnappers who abduct a group of young people, one of which ends up being the daughter of Dracula. Stephen Shields wrote the script.
The tea leaves from Universal point it in the direction of The Invisible Man or Renfield, movies that take a classic Universal monster or character and modernize it for a unique take.
The filmmaking group is among the hottest in Hollywood right now. They’ve done wonders for the Scream franchise, and they’re also tackling Escape From New York.
We’ll have to see how this story develops.
