The current schedule for Star Wars Celebration is a mystery, sort of. They had the event in Anaheim, California in 2022, and it just wrapped up in London, UK in 2023. Now, they’re skipping a year, and bringing the event to Japan in 2025. The last time they visited Japan for the Celebration was back in 2008. This year’s event saw plenty of announcements, huge crowds, and all the Star Wars goodness you can think of.
Star Wars Celebration Japan is set to take place in Chiba, Japan, from April 18th to April 20th, 2025.
Star Wars Celebration began back in 1999 ahead of the release of Star Wars: The Phantom Menace, with each prequel movie getting a Celebration leading into its release. Once that trilogy ended, we still got events that were basically Star Wars Con. You could go and meet actors, fans, and gather to share the love for a galaxy far, far away.
After Lucasfilm was bought by Disney, Celebration became the mecca of Star Wars that we know it as today. Disney has recently skipped out on San Diego Comic-Con, which used to be the big place to announce movies, and instead used Celebration as the place to announce the biggest Star Wars and Lucasfilm properties.
The COVID-19 pandemic made it so that we had to wait three years for a Celebration event, but it also gave us two in back to back years with Anaheim and London.
So, it looks like Star Wars Celebration in 2025 might be the first time we get a good look at the various films that were announced at this year’s event. The last Star Wars movie we had was Rise of Skywalker. You can read more about the three films that were announced below.
