Love Buffy the Vampire Slayer? Well, you’ll want to look out for a new teen supernatural slayer headed to Netflix. Meet Jentry Chau, monster hunter.
The upcoming animated series Jentry Chau vs. The Underworld follows a Chinese-American teen living in a small Texas town. She soon finds out a demon king is hunting her for the supernatural powers she’s been working her whole life to repress. With the help of her weapons expert great-aunt and a millennia-old jiangshi (Chinese hopping vampire), Jentry must now fight an entire underworld’s worth of monsters while balancing the horrors of high school.
Ali Wong leads the voice cast as Jentry. Wong previously worked on a number of different projects for Netflix, including her standup special Baby Cobra and rom-com Always Be My Maybe. She also lent her voice to Big Mouth and Tuca & Bertie.
Wong also executive produces Jentry Chau, alongside Aron Eli Coleite (Locke & Key). Echo Wu serves as showrunner. Additional executive producers include Chris Prynoski (The Legend of Vox Machina), Shannon Prynoski (Fairfax), Antonio Canobbio (Arlo the Alligator Boy), and Ben Kalina (Big Mouth) from Titmouse.
The voice cast also includes Bowen Yang, Lori Tan Chinn, Lucy Liu, Jimmy O. Yang, Sheng Wang, and Woosung Kim.
Jentry Chau vs. The Underworld is a 2D-animated supernatural action series. Netflix did not suggest a release date when announcing the show. But check back to THS for more updates.
