It seems that Marvel Comics has something special for their upcoming Uncanny Avengers #1. It’s not surprising really, considering that it’s for the 60th anniversary of both the Avengers and the X-Men. It would certainly explain why we’re getting this nice new variant cover for this comic. It’s practically a game of “Spot the Avenger/Spot the X-Men” really.
Uncanny Avengers #1: A New Cover Hope?
Marvel Comics is proud to announce their new comic Uncanny Avengers #1. To hype it up, they’re showing us a new variant cover from Alex Ross. You can, in fact, see it above. The variant cover is basically a celebration of the titular Avengers and the X-Men, with the cover itself being split into a 2-part connecting cover that presumably makes up the front and back covers of the comic book in question. You can clearly make out prominent members of both organizations like the Incredible Hulk, Beast, Black Panther, Captain America, etc.. In fact, Alex Ross himself has something to say about his variant cover (and by extension the new comic) below:
In the case of the Avengers, I wanted to capture something of the era I grew up with, but also something extensive. So I captured the first 30 years of that team, from the ‘60s through the ‘80s. I end where 1989 closes. I’m trying to make sure my work is aligning with how the character looked and also the attitudes the characters had.
So when can you get this new comic? Well, according to Marvel Comics themselves, Uncanny Avengers #1 will go on sale on August 16, 2023. You can preorder the comic at your local comic book shop. If you don’t feel like walking outside though, then you can preorder the comic online using the Marvel Comics app for iOS and Android.
