As you might have guessed from even a cursory look at BLUELOCK, it’s an anime all about soccer. Or football, as it’s known everywhere but in the USA (because we insist on being different). Thus, it probably shouldn’t come as a surprise to learn that they’re going to have a promotional soccer tournament for it coming soon. Especially since the season finale of said anime is coming very soon to Crunchyroll.

Crunchyroll is proud to announce that they’re teaming up with Saturdays Football and the LA Galaxy soccer club in order to bring us a special soccer tournament. All just to hype up the impending season finale of BLUELOCK. Said finale will make its debut on March 26, 2023 only on Crunchyroll, so if you want to watch it, that’s when and where you need to go.

When you realize that someone is taking soccer waaay too seriously.

But enough talk about soccer anime for now. Let’s talk about this real life promo soccer tournament. According to Crunchyroll, the official BLUELOCK tournament will take place on Saturday, March 25, 2023 at 11:00 AM PDT. Said tournament will take place in sunny (most of the time) Los Angeles, California. Where exactly, you might ask, since it’s a big city? Well, Crunchyroll have helpfully provided us the exact location as Galaxy Park complex at the Dignity Health Sports Park campus in Carson, CA.

As for how this BLUELOCK tournament will work? Well, also according to Crunchyroll: “[p]layers will engage in a 3 vs. 3 “King of the Court” format across multiple fields that will take place over the course of 90 minutes of play. At the end of the 90 minutes, the four teams on the top two courts will play against each other in a semi-final match with the winners going head to head in a final game to determine the winner.”. Registration for the tournament is free, and you can do so at EventBrite via a RSVP.

As a final note, Crunchyroll apparently plans to host another one of these BLUELOCK promo tournaments at a later date in Dallas, Texas. The details are still a work in progress though. Tune back in to THS later to find out those details when we do.
