From the minds of B.J. Novack (Vengeance) and Chef Tim Hollingsworth, there’s a new popup in town taking over your old favorites. Eat at Chain is reinventing some of our beloved chain restaurant dishes with a chef-y twist.

Previous Eat At Chain popups drew inspiration from Outback Steakhouse, Taco Bell, BJ’s, TGI Fridays, and Chili’s. I had a chance to check out the McDonald-inspired version that also collaborated with the new Scream movie.

The pop-up is located in a “secret” West Hollywood location. Once inside you walk into pure 90s nostalgia from the artwork to watching people playing Nintendo games on a box tv. There are even old-school statues, tables, and chairs, as well as a mini gift shop. Outback is where all the “magic” happens.

EAT AT CHAIN: THE STABBY MEAL

At every pop-up, Eat At Chain picks an iconic menu item from the restaurants they’re inspired by and twists it into something new and what I like to call, chefified! This time it’s the Cheeseburger Happy Stabby Meal! The box itself is incredible. It’s covered in the iconic shape, and covered in Ghost Face nostalgia, and games. Of course, there’s also a “toy” in the form of a collectible Scream VI pin.

As for the food, the Stabby Meal comes with a half-pound bone marrow beef patty topped with American Cheese, pickles, onions, ketchup, and mustard, as well as seasoned with Chain’s umami blend all on a poppy seed bun. The fries are classic French Fries. Then, there’s my favorite thing of the entire meal, the Woodsboro Orchards Warm Apple Pie. Do you remember with McDonald’s Apple Pies were incredible in the 90s? This brought me back to a simpler, more delicious time.

WHAT’S COMING NEXT

Next on the Eat At Chain list is Friendly’s! One of my all-time favorite chains growing up. Seriously, the milkshakes are insane! Coming to the menu are Fribbles, Fries, Award Winning Tenders, and A Brand New World Famous Sundae!

While the tickets have already gone on sale – and sold out almost immediately. There’s always hope for next time. If you’d like to get on the list, send a text to 323.310.4642. You can also get on the list by entering your phone number on their website. It’s also worth following them on Instagram!
