From the seemingly impossible mission of running a Premier League team to a whole new kind of challenge… Ted Lasso star Hannah Waddingham will appear in Mission: Impossible – Dead Reckoning.
Christopher McQuarrie, writer/director of Mission: Impossible 7, announced her casting on social media. The post simply reads, “And Hannah Waddingham…” with the hashtags #Godspeed and #DeadReckoning.
You can see McQuarrie’s post below.
Waddingham joins the Dead Reckoning extended cast, which includes Hayley Atwell, Ving Rhames, Simon Pegg, Rebecca Ferguson, Vanessa Kirby, Esai Morales, Pom Klementieff, Mariela Garriga, Henry Czerny, Shea Whigham, Greg Tarzan Davis, Frederick Schmidt, Charles Parnell, Rob Delaney, Cary Elwes, Indira Varma, and Mark Gatiss. Franchise star Tom Cruise also reprises his role as Ethan Hunt.
The seventh Mission: Impossible installment marks the penultimate chapter in the action franchise. The film will be divided into two parts (Dead Reckoning Part One and Dead Reckoning Part Two). The first part will hit theaters this summer, on July 14. The final chapter will premiere just under a year later on June 28, 2024.
McQuarrie’s initial post didn’t clarify if Waddingham would appear in Part One and/or Part Two of the final Mission: Impossible story. However, the picture appears to show Waddingham aboard a ship. MI: 8 is currently in production in the Adriatic Sea. So, her character may only appear in the franchise’s final installment. For now, more specific details remain under wraps.
Waddingham is best known for her role as Richmond football club owner Rebecca Welton on the Apple TV+ series Ted Lasso. She won an Emmy in 2021 for her role on the series. You can see Waddingham in season 3 of Ted Lasso soon; it premieres on March 15.
