Star Wars Celebration Europe 2023 is only a few weeks away and fans are getting excited. Well, today Star Wars Celebration added to this excitement by revealing this year’s badge art. For some, these badges are highly collectible and are a must-have in their collections. We have seen some amazing badges over the years and this year’s badges from Alice X. Zhang could be some of the best badges yet. This year these badges will not only tell a story through Star Wars history, but they will also fit together like a puzzle. You can check out the badges below.
Star Wars Celebration 2023 Official Badge Art
This year’s badges by Alice X. Zhang are done in a traditional oil painting style but created with Modern techniques. These badges will include characters throughout the Star Wars timeline like Luke Skywalker, Darth Vader, Ahsoka, The Mandalorian, Grogu, and more. There will be 19 badges in total and it looks as if there will be one with the Celebration Logo as well. Here is what Alice X. Zhang told StarWars.com about the badges.
“Well, it has absolutely been a huge honor! I have never been to a Celebration, but when I was first approached and researched the history of Celebration badges, I was immediately inspired — not to mention, portraits are my favorite illustration subject. So, it was exciting for me to take this on, and I really wanted to do a memorable job.”
“I knew that Celebration has had a long tradition of commissioning a single illustrator to create the art on each badge, and that many collect the badges.” “I wanted to do something unique to ‘link’ the set together, like an Easter egg for those collectors!”
