Get ready for a trip back to the Stone Age. The Flintstone family will return in a new animated series, Bedrock.
The project has been officially ordered as a pilot at Fox. It follows the Flintstone family you know, but two decades later, with Fred on the brink of retirement and 20-something Pebbles embarking on her own career. As the Stone Age gives way to a shiny and enlightened new Bronze Age, the residents of Bedrock will find this evolution harder than a swing from Bamm-Bamm’s club.
Elizabeth Banks, who serves as an executive producer on the show, will lead the voice cast as Pebbles. Other confirmed cast members include Stephen Root as Fred; Amy Sedaris as Wilma; Manny Jacinto as Bam Bam; Joe Lo Truglio as Barney; and Nicole Byer as Betty.
Warner Bros. Animation and Fox Entertainment produce the series. Max Handelman executive produces via Brownstone Productions. Lindsay Kerns and Lon Zimmet also serve as executive producers and writers.
Bedrock joins Fox’s successful animation slate, which includes long-running series like The Simpsons, Family Guy, and Bob’s Burgers, as well as newer series like Krapopolis and Housebroken.
We don’t have any more details about the series just yet. But check back to THS for more updates.
