Well, HBO Max may have dropped the ball on the Batman: Caped Crusader series. But luckily for fans, Amazon stepped in to take over the project. Prime Video just ordered two seasons of the animated series.
The show reimagines the Batman mythology, looking to reinvent Batman and his iconic rogue’s gallery with sophisticated storytelling, nuanced characters and intense action sequences all set in a visually striking world. The series comes from Bruce Timm (of the much beloved Batman: The Animated Series), as well as executive producers J.J. Abrams and Matt Reeves (Robert Pattinson’s The Batman).
Batman: Caped Crusader was first announced in May 2021, with plans to premiere on HBO Max. However, the network officially canceled the project in August 2022, reportedly as a cost-saving measure.
“We are beyond excited to be working together to bring this character back, to tell engrossing new stories in Gotham City,” said Abrams and Reeves in a joint statement when Caped Crusader was first announced. “The series will be thrilling, cinematic and evocative of Batman’s noir roots, while diving deeper into the psychology of these iconic characters. We cannot wait to share this new world.”
Batman: The Caped Crusader doesn’t have a release date for Prime Video just yet. But check back to THS for more updates.
