Metroid Fusion fans, good news! It seems you’ll soon be able to play this classic Game Boy Advance game on the Nintendo Switch. Unfortunately, there’s bad news mixed in with the good. It seems that you’ll need to subscribe to the ridiculously expensive Nintendo Switch Online subscription to play it, along with every other classic Nintendo game Nintendo has locked behind that particular paywall. Don’t believe me? Then why don’t you check out Nintendo‘s official trailer for this game for yourself below?

Metroid Fusion: Soon Horrifying People into Going Past the Paywall?

Is it just me, or does this game have some serious horror vibes coming from it?

Nintendo (via a press release issued via Business Wire) is proud to announce that Metroid Fusion will soon be coming to Nintendo Switch via their Nintendo Switch Online subscription service. You know, the one Nintendo made to try to compete with PlayStation Plus and Xbox Game Pass? Yeah, well now it seems that Nintendo are trying to further sweeten the deal and make Nintendo Switch Online more attractive by adding this classic Metroid game to their lineup.

So when exactly are we going to get to play Metroid Fusion on the Nintendo Switch? Well, very soon actually. To be precise: this classic Metroid game will arrive in Nintendo Switch Online on March 8, 2023. So if you have a Nintendo Switch Online subscription, you can expect to be able to play this game on that date. If you don’t, well, then you can either ignore this news or pay Nintendo’s price for that subscription. It’s up to you if the addition of this game makes it worth $3.99 per month or $19.99 per year, depending on which plan you select.

Samus totally rocks any horror game she’s in.

Want to know what Metroid Fusion is about if, like me, you’ve never actually played it? Well, don’t worry. Nintendo’s press release also contains an official synopsis of the game. You can check it out below:

In Metroid Fusion, interstellar bounty hunter Samus Aran is attacked by an X parasite while exploring the mysterious planet SR388. This organism is not only deadly, but it can mimic the abilities of any creature it infects – including Samus herself! Saved from the brink thanks to an infusion of Metroid DNA, the X parasite’s only natural predator, she soon discovers that the parasite has spread to the research station orbiting SR388. Weakened and out of options, Samus must do whatever it takes to destroy the X threat before it’s too late.

Embark on this critical mission alongside Samus and experience classic Metroid gameplay while exploring a massive research station teeming with hostile life forms. Collect power-ups – including favorites like Morph Ball and Screw Attack – uncover a multitude of secrets and experience the adventure that links Super Metroid™ to Metroid Dread. But be wary, because the dreadful SA-X, an unstoppable X parasite mimicking Samus, is on the loose … and it’s coming for you.
