Isabela Merced is headed to Alien.
Deadline reports the actress will co-star opposite Cailee Spaeny in 20th Century’s latest installment in the sci-fi franchise. The film comes from director Fede Alvarez, with Scott Free producing.
Plot details, including specifics about Merced’s character, remain under wraps. We don’t know much about the movie besides the fact that it will feature the Xenomorph aliens, as previous installments. However, 20th Century reportedly picked up the film on the strength of Alvarez’s pitch alone.
Merced most recently appeared in the 20th Century feature Rosaline. She played Juliet in the rom-com based on Shakespeare’s Romeo and Juliet. Her other recent credits include WB’s Father of the Bride remake and the Netflix film Sweet Girl. Merced is also set to appear in Sony’s upcoming Spider-Man Universe flick, Madame Web, opposite Dakota Johnson and Sydney Sweeney.
Alvarez is known for his Don’t Breathe horror flicks, as well as his remake/reimagining of Evil Dead. Ridley Scott, who directed the original 1979 Alien film, produces the upcoming picture.
