Apple announced the new documentary series Monster Factory, set to premiere on Friday, March 17, on Apple TV+. Directed by News & Documentary Award nominee Galen Summer and Naiti Gámez and produced by Vox Media Studios and Public Record; Monster Factory is the story of dreamers at a wrestling school just outside of New Jersey factory town who, with the help of their strict yet loving coach, fight for their big break as professional wrestlers.
The coach and owner is Danny Cage, a former wrestler who needs to keep the veterans and new recruits motivated to survive the training and the trials and tribulations that come with the business.
The Cast Of Monster Factory
Mimi: The raven-haired veteran who has been a Monster Factory alum since high school. Despite her upper-middle-class upbringing, she has only dreamed of becoming a professional wrestler. Being a female veteran, she brings just as much determination as her male counterparts. However, will this determination be the critical factor in reaching her dream?
Twitch: wrestling saved his life! When Twitch was in a dark time in his life, he found wrestling to be his safe space. As the only factory member to suffer from Tourette’s Syndrome, he used what many would suggest as a hindrance to his advantage. Will he be able to become a wrestler, or will his inner demons get in the way of him making it?
Bobby Buffet: The quiet, unassuming local from New Jersey is more than meets the eye. By day, he flips burgers at a local fast-food restaurant, but once he arrives at the Monster Factory, he is the insatiable Bobby Buffet. Will he find the inner discipline and leadership skills to drop the day job and fully commit to his dream?
Gabby Ortiz: A Philadelphia native, who worked in the mayor’s office, rose to fame fast in the wrestling scene but, because of a personal tragedy, was forced to step away. Now she is back, but she must answer whether she is ready to pick up where she left off or will the past keep her from fully reaching the potential she was building upon.
Goldy: The pretty boy. But what lies underneath his chiseled physique is a bad-boy exterior that has crippling social anxiety, and he is using wrestling to control his panic attacks. Once in the ring, he becomes someone else, someone invincible. Will the spotlight pressure ultimately be his undoing?
