The latest song off Metallica‘s upcoming album 72 Seasons is here! They’ve unleashed “If Darkness Had A Son” on the world. This isn’t the traditional thrash affair we’ve been accustomed to from Metallica lately, though. It feels like a mix of Load/ReLoad and Death Magnetic stylings from the band. It’s yet another track that shows off that Metallica isn’t done ripping riffs and kicking ass yet.

You can grab 72 Seasons when it releases on April 14th, 2023. You can pre-order or pre-save the album directly from Metallica here. The new album has 12 tracks coming in at over 77 minutes. 72 Seasons was produced by Greg Fidelman alongside James Hetfield and Lars Ulrich.

Metallica On Tour

Metallica are hitting the road for 46 unique shows in 22 cities around the world. Starting in April of 2023, they’ll be doing a “No Repeat Weekend” show in each city. Two totally different setlists with two different opening bands opening the show each night. Purchase a two-day ticket and you won’t see the same song twice for a total of over 30 songs spanning Metallica’s 40+ years of heavy metal. Most of the shows will be on Fridays and Sundays, so make plans now.
