Everyone, meet Magnus Antas (aka Mad Santa). Eric Stonestreet will join the next season of The Santa Clauses on Disney+.
The former Modern Family star will appear in season 2 opposite Tim Allen’s Scott Calvin. His character previously reigned during the 14th century, and now re-enters the fray in an attempt to take down Scott and reclaim the North Pole.
The Santa Clauses takes place in the same universe as The Santa Claus films, also starring Allen. In the second season, the Calvin family returns to the North Pole. Scott continues his role as Santa Claus after his retirement plans were thwarted in season 1, since he failed to find a worthy successor. Now that Scott and his family have successfully saved Christmas, Scott turns his focus towards training his son Calvin to eventually take over the “family business” as Santa Claus.
In addition to Allen, returning series regulars include Elizabeth Mitchell as Mrs. Claus/Carol, Elizabeth Allen-Dick as Sandra Calvin Claus, Austin Kane as Cal Calvin Claus, and Devin Bright as Noel.
Stonestreet joins other announced guest stars, including Marta Kessler as Olga, a surly gnome and Mad Santa’s sidekick. Season 2 will also feature returning guests Liam Kyle as Gary, Isabella Bennett as Edie, Sasha Knight as Crouton, Ruby Jay as Riley, Matilda Lawler as Betty, Mia Lynn Bangunan as Pontoon, and Laura San Giacomo as La Befana, the Christmas Witch.
Stonestreet recently appeared in the series American Auto and lent his voice to Madagascar: A Little Wild. However, he’s best known for his long-running role as Cameron Tucker on the sitcom Modern Family.
The first season of The Santa Clauses became one of the Top 5 most-watched original series on Disney+. If you missed its debut in November 2022, you can stream it on Disney+ now.
