Consider this your official Save The Date. My Big Fat Greek Wedding 3 will hit theaters this fall!

The third installment in Nia Vardalos’ popular rom-com series premieres worldwide September 8. Vardalos wrote and directed the feature, and reprises her role as Toula Portokalos.

“The sweet friendship which bloomed from the producers’ first taking a chance on me then grew into a beautiful relationship as they entrusted me to direct this installment of our franchise,” said Vardalos. “We filmed our family reunion entirely in Greece which was thrilling for us all. Plus, we ate for free.”

My Big Fat Greek Wedding debuted back in 2002, chronicling the love story of a Greek woman, Toula, who falls in love with non-Greek Ian. When they decide to get married, Toula must get her very Greek family to accept him while she comes to terms with her own heritage and identity.

The original film has plenty of moments ingrained in my psyche two decades later; my family regularly says “Put some Windex on it,” and I can’t hear anyone introduce themselves as vegan/vegetarian without thinking, “I’ll make lamb.” And I know I’m not the only one – the movie scored a sequel flick in 2016, fourteen years after the first. Now, fans can look forward to a third, very Greek outing.

Besides Vardalos, My Big Fat Greek Wedding 3 will feature some familiar faces. Confirmed cast members include John Corbett, Louis Mandylor, Elena Kampouris, Maria Vacratsis, Andrea Martin, Elias Kavacas, Gia Carides, Joey Fatone, and Melina Kotselou.

My Big Fat Greek Wedding 3 comes from Focus Features, with Tom Hanks, Rita Wilson, and Gary Goetzman producing. Paul Brooks, Scott Niemeyer, and Steven Shareshian executive produce.

“It’s thrilling to have Nia Vardalos, Academy Award nominated writer, not only in front of the camera as our star, but also behind the camera as our director, guiding our beloved cast for this third film shot on location in Greece,” said Wilson. “My Big Fat Greek Wedding has brought audiences joy for twenty-one years. I’m so happy that more joy is on the way.”
