One of the most celebrated romantic dramas of all time turns 25 this year. And to commemorate this milestone for Titanic, Paramount Pictures put together a special featurette.
The clip dives into how Titanic came to be, and features interview clips from star Kate Winslet and director James Cameron. Fans can catch a glimpse of Winslet’s original screen test for the role of Rose and hear her discuss working with Leonardo DiCaprio on the film.
Cameron also describes how he got Paramount on board for the film.
“I walked into the studio, and I said Romeo and Juliet, on that ship. And the rest is history,” Cameron says.

Titanic is an epic cross-class romance set against the backdrop of the ill-fated voyage of the “unsinkable” ship. When it released in 1997, it became the #1 all-time earner at the global box office. (25 years later, it still holds the #3 spot.) In addition to Winslet and DiCaprio, it also starred Billy Zane, Kathy Bates, Frances Fisher, Bernard Hill, Jonathan Hyde, Danny Nucci, Gloria Stuart, David Warner, Victor Garber, and Bill Paxton.
The feature won 11 Academy Awards, including Best Picture, Best Director, Best Cinematography, Best Film Editing, Best Art Direction-Set Direction, Best Costume Design, Best Original Dramatic Score, Best Original Song, Best Sound, Best Sound Effects Editing, and Best Visual Effects.
Winslet and Cameron recently re-teamed for Avatar: The Way of Water.
Ahead of its official 25th anniversary this December, a remastered version of the film will be re-released in theaters. It arrives February 10 (yes, just in time for Valentine’s Day).
