Black Panther: Wakanda Forever has already smashed records on Disney+ in its short time on the service. According to Disney, it is the most streamed Marvel premiere in watch hours in its first five days. It launched on February 1st on Disney+ after a hugely successful theatrical run. The sequel takes place following the death of Chadwick Boseman‘s King T’Challa with Wakanda and his family grieving his loss and searching for a new leader.
The film stars Angela Bassett, Letitia Wright, Winston Duke, Danai Gurira, Lupita Nyong’o, Martin Freeman, Tenoch Huerta, Dominique Thorne, Michaela Coel, Mabel Cadena, and Alex Livinalli. Ryan Coogler returned as director and writer of the film. Black Panther: Wakanda Forever has been nominated for five Academy Awards including one for Bassett’s performance for Best Supporting Actress. It was not nominated for Best Picture, though.
